Wedding Date

A while back one of us threw out the idea and it sort of stuck. I don't remember which one of us said it first, but 09.09.09 quickly became our unoffical wedding day. We told some poeple, we started planning, to the point where the only thing keeping it from becoming the official date was the fact that we hadn't yet booked anything for that date or purchased anything with that date on it. Then over time, as I thought about, I started to get a little uneasy about that date.

You see, nine is my lucky number, and although it sounded like a great date for me, I was uncomfortable with our wedding day date being all about me. I never said anything about this though. And we went forward with the idea of 09.09.09 being our wedding day until we hit a little snag.

The chapel we wanted to use cannot be rented after September 1st, meaning we needed to change the date or find a new chapel. This decision was really bothering Karen, I suggested we should change the date, she was having a hard time with that. So finally I decided to tell her about my hesitations with the date. She understood, and asked me to suggest a new date. So I suggested 08.18.09 and once I told her why she seemed to really like the new date. Karen's lucky number is eight, hence August. Our first date was on June 18th, 2006 and for every month of our first year dating I bought Karen gifts on the 18th of every month, 18 was special so hence the 18th. And of course my lucky number is nine, not that we were going to change the year, but 09 represents that. From that point forward, our date became 08.18.09.
